Community Breast Cancer Support Event – Women’s Month August 2024

We are delighted to share the wonderful success of our recent community event for breast cancer survivors in the Garden Route, proudly sponsored by Eden Oncology. Held at the picturesque Dias Museum, this memorable day was filled with joy, inspiration, and support for those navigating their cancer journeys.

The event included an uplifting laughter yoga session led by Annemarie Le Roux, bringing positive energy and smiles to all participants. We were honored to welcome Prof. Carol-Ann Benn, a globally respected leader in breast cancer surgery, who delivered an insightful and empowering talk on breast cancer and women’s health. Her analogy comparing the support from Just Breathe in Care of Cancer to the wind that keeps the Dias Caravel sailing resonated deeply with everyone in attendance.

Adding to the day’s special atmosphere, renowned singer Michael Lindt captivated the audience with a heartfelt musical performance, creating a magical and uplifting experience for all.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the ladies of Danabaai Kunsvlyters for their continued generosity in donating hand-knitted knockers and hats. These thoughtful items will bring comfort to breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, providing them with a sense of care and community during treatment.

The day was made even more memorable with beautiful protea flowers, specially made cupcakes, and warm cups of hot chocolate and marshmallows, creating a cozy and welcoming atmosphere as we wrapped up the event.

We would like to thank the staff at the Dias Museum, especially Jonathan and Brigitte, for their incredible support and assistance in hosting this event.

To everyone who joined us and contributed to making this day such a success, we are deeply grateful. Your continued support is invaluable, and we look forward to hosting more events that bring our community together in meaningful ways to support those impacted by cancer.

Stay tuned for future updates as we continue to expand our efforts to uplift and empower cancer patients across the region.
